Andrew Wood is the Director for Sustainable Investment and Legal, Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (October 2022 commencement). Prior to that, Andrew has been Group Executive Strategy & Development at Alumina Limited, with responsibility for strategy and business development, including market analysis and strategic investments. Alumina owns 40% of the AWAC joint venture, a large global bauxite and alumina producer. He worked for 15 years at WMC in commercial and legal roles in the oil & gas and nickel & gold businesses. He was then a consultant in Hamburg for 2 years, followed by 5 years at Sibelco, a Belgian industrial minerals producer, as Executive General Manager, with management, legal and EHS responsibilities. Mr Wood holds Bachelors of Laws and Arts degrees and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance

  • The prospects for bauxite in Indonesia and Guinea is becoming more and more complicated. Where is the future of Alumina investments? Chinese companies along with Alcoa, Rio Tinto, EGA, Ma'aden, etc. have bauxite resources in Guinea.
  • Will there be new investments to build refineries in Guinea? How will alumina plants respond to government demands? What changes will happen to the pattern of global bauxite resources in the future?
